Bremen and Beetroot - an improvisation

Bremen and Beetroot - an improvisation

Our dear friend Liz surprised us this morning with old photographs and a wonderful card. "Town Musicians of Bremen" made us think of the Beetroot Chocolate Cake that we've never had and decided to give it a try, adapting these guys' recipe to our Zuhandenheit, therefore in our version we have replaced the wholemeal spelt flour with organic stoneground wholemeal flour, the whole cane sugar with organic coconut sugar, the virgin canola oil with cold pressed avocado oil and the beetroot powder with fine chopped walnuts. Also, instead of a small baking pan, we used the Bundt tin and stuck half a lemon in the middle at the end - we love lemons. The same cake, but different, one could argue; not as pretty looking and a tad sweeter (we've added double the quantity of maple syrup in the ganache). As the story goes, we've journeyed towards Bremen, but never got there... delicious, nonetheless.

We are Irina and Silviu and we do everything together.

Our story begun in Transylvania while studying Philosophy at the University and we have been inseparable ever since. From translating philosophy books to changing diapers, creating collages together and documenting our reality through photography our togetherness became a lifestyle.

For the past 8 years we have called Wales home, the land of hiraeth and Celtic legends, of rugged coastlines and dramatic Brecon Beacons.

If you feel a connection with our aesthetics and vision we would love to hear from you.
